THE LORE OF CREATION
There was the Void. The Void was. The Void shall be, and the Void ever was. The Void was as it was, for it was all that could ever be. But the void, as timeless as he was, was lonely. He took from him the Cold, and from Cold he found that there was no one there, for Cold was hard and could do nothing, and this made Cold sad, for she could not do any of that which she dreamed of. So the darkness was lonely, as the cold was hard and could not move from her perch, and wanted a sibling that could move with him, and so he created the opposite of himself, and a child. With this creation, Light was born. From Light’s heat, Cold melted, and so Water was freed from her perch, free to flow and free to sing and dance and play.
The Void saw Light, and realized that he had corrupted himself to create her, and so he knew that he was her opposite, as such he was he, and she was she. For this, he hated her, and he wanted her to be with him, but she was Light, and he was Dark, so he was forever the Darkness and the Nothingness. Light was sad, for she did not like this Void that she came from, and it scared her, for it was not warm like her, it was not finite like her, it was Nothing That Was Something. Fearing this, she sought to create a child to help protect her, but she lacked the Void’s cold nature, and could not create something like water, so from herself she made Fire. Fire was not at all like his aunt, Water, he was angry, and quick to judge. But he noticed that in his anger, he would destroy all that he touched, as such he wished that he was was contained, as to keep the beauty of the void from his burning grasp.
Fire and Water had a strange dichotomy, for they were each others opposites in every way, but they found that they could not bear to be apart from one another. Together, they were happy, but they soon found themselves wanting more, and so Fire took his heat and from Water her way of life and together they created Wind. Wind was very happy, but she was too fast. As she was born, she ran away from her parents, not realizing what she had done until she noticed that there was almost nothing but them in the void that they called home. For this reason, she cried, and she tore out her hair, and gnashed her teeth. Her teeth were not strong yet, so they fell out. So, from her hair and her teeth, she created Earth to be stronger than her and to lead her back to her parents, and to give her someone to love and play with in the darkness of the void.
Earth was a strong fellow, but few with words, for he did not alter his way of thought, and none could stop him when he decided to do something. He loved his friend, Wind, even though she was his mother, they grew together, and they hunted together. From time to time, he would notice dust coming off of him after long play times with Wind, for Wind was like her father, and was destructive if she was around for too long. Water and Fire wanted to give something to their child Wind, so they brought life onto the rocks. Earth did not mind the life that Water and Fire had placed on him, for at times when Wind would run off he would be lonely. The life, he had found, was very still, and stagnant. For it was growing slowly, and he needed things that moved to keep himself company, so he took from his flesh and he sculpted the beasts that would roam his form.
From his mother-friend, he took her flight and created birds, from Water he made the fish, and he gave parts of all the spirits to the Wolves, for they were his chosen to make their own path. But then the Void came, and he was jealous of these beasts, for they were not his, and so he crept into their hearts and turned good to bad and kindness to evil. Earth found that he disliked the Void, for the Void had corrupted his beasts, and he found himself feeling something from his grandfather, Fire. Hatred. For this, he hates the Void, and all that come from it, and in his hatred, he swung at the Void, only to hit the Nothing That Was Something. He soon found that he had to be careful, and to stay still, else he would startle the beasts and they would flee, making him lonely still. But every so often, he would have to stretch, and so Earth would split apart, and there would be much destruction. Earth found after a while, that he was too cold for life to live for long, and so he pleaded with Fire and Water to find a way to keep them, as to give him more time with his beloved pets.
Fire had found his way to keep others safe from his destruction with Earth’s plea, and so he delved deep within that which was his grandchild, and he used Earth as his prison, ensuring that none could ever be harmed by his wrath. In some places, the prison was weakest, so he could use those areas to breathe, but in his folly, the air he breathed was hot, and burned the land and melted Earth. For his inferno which kept the ground warm for life was too much in those weakened parts. Water was sad, for her lover had left her. True, it was for the betterment of all life, but it still pained her to see him gone, and so she cried. As she cried, her tears formed the rain and filled the world with her, so that all life could drink from her and flourish.
Light had noticed her friend, Water, crying, and so would check on her from time to time, and when she did so, Earth was covered by a blinding flash and her intense heat would create more of Fire on Earth’s skin, for wherever Light was, Fire could exist. Light, while checking on Water, had found herself intrigued by life, and so she began to walk around Earth, to see what it all was, but she soon found that she was followed closely by the Void, and in his hand was a great glacier of Cold, with which he could see Light’s reflection in, and he would turn it to see where she was, only ever just figuring out how to get more of her in it, then trying harder to get more in only for it to slip away.
Wind also wished to see what was wrong with her mother, and so she ran to her, and she ran around and around, forming a great tree of wind that everything was drawn towards as Water cried. Wind would help her mother by pushing her around Earth, to see if she could find Fire, and sometimes she would, and she would see where the prison was weak, and where his heat had scorched Earth and left the land barren, so she would cry at the loss of her creations, allowing more to be born from the ashes of the past.
In time, Light would grow weary of running, so the night would grow longer as the Void held sway. Water became Cold, and nothing could be drank from her, and Fire began to die, for without Light, Fire could not exist. Light would gaze back in on Earth, and see what had become of the beasts and the spirits without her, so she would run back to aid them by bringing forth her warmth. When this first happened, she was gone for but a few moments, and then she returned. But as time went on, she grew ever more tired, and so the chill has become longer, but she has stopped growing ever tired and so the chill only lasts for a few glacial phases.
