EARTH, WIND, AND THE LONE WOLF
One day, Earth was tired, and he needed to sleep, for his mother-friend Wind had been playing with him all day, so he began to rest, but he found that he couldn’t, for the beasts made too much racket. Wind looked at him, and embraced him, but in her embrace all of the beasts were flung far away, except for one wolf. He was alone, and he was strong, able to weather the storm that Wind had caused. He was smart, and he didn’t want Earth to sleep, for if he slept he would toss and turn and all would be lost, as Earth would split and beast and life would be lost forever.
So the Lone Wolf looked at Earth and asked him why he wished to sleep, but he had to yell and howl for Earth to hear him, and so Wind replied to him, as to make sure that Earth did not have to open his great maw and let loose his terrible breath. Wind ran around the Lone Wolf, and whispered in his ears how Earth was tired, and so the Lone Wolf should keep quiet. The Lone Wolf did not like being told what to do, for that was why he was lone, he was without a pack for he liked to do as he pleased, and so he continued to yell at Earth, not only to keep everything alive, but to prove that he didn’t follow orders from anyone, not even the spirits. For this reason, the Void took interest in him, and he sought to make him his own.
So, the Void came down upon the Lone Wolf, and whispered in his ears. He told him of many things, dark things, things that beasts were not meant to know, and this drove the Lone Wolf mad. For the things that beasts were not meant to know made them uneasy, but when they knew it they learned of things that would grant them power over others. Eventually, the Lone Wolf found another, and bit her in his madness. She appeared to have died, and there was no moon. So he walked around her, struck by grief for what he had done, and he howled three times as he did so. From that, she came up and lived, but she was different. She was not the same, for the Void saw this, and he had filled her with dark, corrupted life. The Lone Wolf felt odd, weak, and he fell down. For the corrupted life used to bring her back was his very own. And so, this new wolf bathed in the blood of the old, and she came to be known as Blood Red. She has since began to walk the world, biting others and granting them her powers through her bite. Soon, though, she felt that she was not welcomed where she was, and so she went to the Void, and asked him to take her where the dead are, for she was too old, and she should be dead herself. The Void was pleased, and took her with him, where she could guard the dead against those that wish to take them from their slumber.
CREATION OF THE EAGLE WARRIORS
One day, there was a wolf, and she was large and strong. But she had found herself wanting more than to touch the grass, she wanted to touch the clouds and be with the birds, so she wandered away from her pack until she found Wind. She asked Wind why she could not fly. And so Wind responded that Wolves were not gifted with the ability to fly, and this made her sad, for she so wished to fly. But she was cunning, and so when Wind turned away, she found a great eagle and slew him, taking his wings for herself. She had them on her back, but they did not stay for there was no flesh to make it matter, so she took from Earth his flesh and made it so that she had wings. She later found Wind and asked her why she could not fly, and Wind saw the wings and wings alone and felt bad for the eagle, and so Wind gifted the clever wolf with the ability to fly.
One day, Wind looked down and saw that the birds were not flying, but the wolves. For the wolves had hunted nearly all of the birds out of the sky, and so many of them stayed on the ground or in the earth, to hide from them. At once, she realized the trick played on her and she ripped the wings off of the first wolf that she could lay her hands on. The wolf was male, and he fell from the sky, but he landed in Water, and she cradled him in her arms and she put him back to shore. When he came to, he howled at the loss of his wings, and all the males felt his pain, and so they tore their wings in anguish, and in fear of attracting more of Wind’s wrath. But the females did not fear Wind, and so they laughed at her, and kept their wings to forever scorn her. The males were cautious, so they devoted their spirits to the essence of Wind, to appease her. Wind accepted, but she warned them to never again trick her as they had done.
CREATION OF THE SILVERBLOODS
One day, there was a wolf that lived in a pack of mighty warriors, they had no mages, for they were warriors. But they were without honor, for they would aid other packs in fights for territory, but only if they got hunting privileges on their land. This wolf was named Redfang, for his fangs were blood red from the day he bit and clawed his way out of his mother’s belly. His lust for blood and the taste of wolf flesh was great, so he was feared amongst the others in his pack. One day, several of the weaker members decided that they did not want to follow this beast anymore, they wanted to fight for honor and glory, not the rights to hunt. So, in the middle of the night while he slept, they slew him.
He found himself in the Void, and he stared up and saw Blood Red, for she had been guarding the dead for many winters. He found himself wanting one thing, and one thing, revenge. All else had lost meaning, but before he could run forth, something grabbed at him from behind. He turned and saw all of the wolves that he had killed while he lived, and they numbered in the thousands. He snarled and went to fight, for that is what he needed to do. As he fought, Blood Red sneered at this, and she gave a large bellow that made everyone stop, except for Redfang, for his lust for blood could not be contained. So he turned, and looked at her, and he ran at her, and then he jumped over her, and he made his way back to Earth’s body, where he leapt past the Void and Light, and back onto his body. But as he landed, he realized that he was silver, and no longer black as his fur was in life. For this, he howled a ghostly wail that chilled the hearts of those that knew who he was. After many winters, he found those that slew him, but they had grown old and feeble, so slaying them would not be a worthy revenge. So he looked at the young, and the rest, and he slew them where they stood, and that was his revenge against the old and feeble wolves.
This sudden loss of so many young had angered Blood Red, and she had been waiting for a reason to go and get Redfang, so she sent her ghostly beasts to find him, silver bears, lions and most fierce of all, the Hell-hounds followed him, and so he ran, and he fought, and he won. So she sent more, and he would forever run and fight these ghastly beings that were sent to end him.
